The Criterion Theatre

149 Oliver Street, Grafton, New South Wales, 2460

Grafton’s heritage-listed Criterion Theatre originally began as a dance hall in the 1940s.

The theatre has a unique, beautiful “sprung” timber dance floor. At sometime during its history, rubber was placed under the timber floor to put a “spring” in the step of dancers using it.

The building was converted into a warehouse in the 1950’s, then converted into a theatre in the 1960’s

The Criterion Theatre, Grafton is a non – profit organisation. The company is managed by a committee elected by members each year at a general meeting.
