It’s been a harrowing couple of months across NSW with fires burning along the east coast and sadly we’ve had many fires here in the Clarence Valley. Whilst some of our most beautiful regions like our national parks and state forests may remain temporarily closed, there are many experiences you can still enjoy here over summer.
The Clarence Valley is quickly becoming famous for its natural beauty and many of these areas remain unaffected by the recent fires. We encourage you to enjoy our river, our beaches, our unique villages, plus there’s all of the shopping and eating you can still enjoy. Our suggestions would be to check out Yamba’s great beaches, café scene and shopping. Maclean’s and Ulmarra’s quaint and quirky riverside lifestyles, Grafton’s tree-lined streets, history and culture and Wooli and Minnie Water for the let’s-chill-by-the-water-and-laze-away-the-days until we can’t relax any more kind of holidays.
Mother Nature is truly beautiful and resilient. You only have to watch the trees bursting back to life in the northern end of the Yuraygir National Park which was burned only 10 weeks ago; such a beautiful sight after such sadness.
With the tragic impact of the widespread bushfires across the Clarence Valley, we know the road to recovery is going to be a long one, some of our areas are still in the midst of the fires and for many, there has been great loss and life will never be the same. We are humbled by the support and bravery of all of those that have gone to great lengths doing everything they can for those affected.
